During DIGIMON CON 2025, Bandai Namco unveiled their latest project, Digimon Alysion, a new mobile trading card game (TCG) designed to expand the Digimon franchise's reach into the mobile gaming space. This announcement comes on the heels of successful mobile TCGs like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap, positioning Digimon Alysion as a strong contender in the genre.
Digimon Alysion is set to be a free-to-play digital TCG where players can collect cards featuring various Digimon and franchise characters, assemble their decks, and engage in battles with other players. A key highlight of Digimon Alysion is its anticipated in-depth story mode, which promises to offer a rich narrative experience alongside traditional and competitive gameplay options. The game's newly released trailer introduced an all-female cast for the story mode, including new characters Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, along with a new Digimon, Gemmon.
While an official release date for Digimon Alysion remains undisclosed, Bandai Namco has confirmed an upcoming closed beta test, with further details to be shared later. This development is eagerly anticipated by fans looking for new ways to engage with the Digimon universe on their mobile devices.
In addition to Digimon Alysion, DIGIMON CON 2025 provided more insights into Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara discussed the game's backstory, its main characters, and showcased the unique abilities of several Digimon featured in the game. Hara confirmed that players will start their journey with one of three popular Digimon from the original Digimon Adventure anime: Patamon, Gomamon, or DemiDevimon, aligning with fan speculations based on promotional artwork.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger boasts an extensive roster of over 450 Digimon, surpassing its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory, which had 330 Digimon. The new trailer highlighted some of these Digimon, including Angewomon, Gallantmon, and the beloved Agumon.
Hara also introduced the game's protagonists, Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, who are secret agents for the organization ADAMAS, tasked with uncovering threats to both humans and Digimon. The main heroine, Inori Misono, and her partner Aegiomon, will join players on their adventure. The game's narrative revolves around time manipulation, with the protagonists being thrown back and forth through different eras, adding a unique twist to the storyline.
The event also featured various other announcements, including a new promotional video for the Digimon Anime’s 25th Anniversary, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and the upcoming anime series Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025. With these exciting developments, the Digimon franchise continues to evolve, promising fans a range of new experiences in 2025 and beyond.
