After three years of development, incorporating player feedback, and fixing bugs, Longvinter has finally left early access on Steam with the release of version 1.0. The developers shared this achievement, offering a range of updates aimed at enhancing the experience for both new and returning players.
The main feature in this update is the addition of oil rigs throughout the archipelago. Players can now gather oil, process it into fuel, and face off against mercenaries from LRI who manage supply routes. Alongside these features, new events have been added, such as helicopter crashes that provide tactical equipment and an underground arena where players can battle for valuable rewards every hour.
The game world has also become more diverse with the introduction of new wildlife, including lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats, all of which can be tamed as mounts. The update adds a variety of new items, such as hats that grant buffs, combat vests, weapons, explosives, kitchen recipes, and interactive objects for building and decorating, including oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets. Significant adjustments have also been made to weapon balance.
Looking forward, the upcoming 1.1 update will include farming features, a revised tutorial for new players, apartment rentals, and shared communities. Additionally, the developers confirmed that Longvinter will be available on PlayStation in 2026, broadening its audience beyond PC users.
