Gematsu uncovered pre-order listings on GameStop's website for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game. While these listings lack images or gameplay details, the timing—just hours before Sony's 40-minute State of Play—strongly hints at an official announcement.

The Digimon Story series, originating with the Nintendo DS title in the mid-2000s, boasts a history of RPG installments across various platforms. Recent entries include Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth (2015), Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory (2017), and their 2019 Complete Edition. These games typically feature players befriending and battling Digimon within the Digimon world.

Following a 2022 tease from franchise producer Kazumashu Habu about a new Story game, fans have eagerly awaited a new installment.
