Nintendo has officially unveiled an exciting new addition to its upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 lineup: *Donkey Kong Bananza*, a brand-new 3D platforming action title exclusive to the next-gen console. Set for release on July 17, 2025, the game will be available at a retail price of $69.99 and promises a fresh take on the classic Donkey Kong adventure experience.

The announcement came alongside the debut gameplay trailer showcased during the recent Nintendo Direct presentation. The official description teases an exhilarating journey filled with destruction, exploration, and banana-fueled chaos:

Get ready for *Donkey Kong Bananza*, a brand-new 3D platforming action adventure – available exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. Crash, bash, and climb through nearly everything in DK’s path and tear off chunks of terrain to swing around and throw in groundbreaking exploration. The more that is demolished with powerful punches, the more areas open up to discover. Break on through this adventure full of mayhem, surprises, and bananas when *Donkey Kong Bananza* crashes onto Nintendo Switch 2 July 17.

As expected, the game will fully leverage the enhanced capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2, which launches earlier in the year on June 5, 2025, priced at $449.99. The system includes the following components in the base package:

  • Nintendo Switch 2 console
  • Joy-Con 2 controllers (L + R)
  • Joy-Con 2 Grip
  • Joy-Con 2 Straps
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Dock
  • Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable
  • Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter
  • USB-C Charging Cable

For those looking to jump into the new system with a great game right out of the gate, Nintendo is also offering the *Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle* at a suggested retail price of $499.99 in the United States. This bundle includes the console and a digital download code for *Mario Kart World*, which becomes available starting June 5—the same day as the Switch 2 launch. Priced separately, *Mario Kart World* retails at $79.99, marking a $10 increase over the most expensive Nintendo Switch titles to date.

In a statement regarding the new hardware, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa shared his vision for the future of portable and home console gaming:

“Nintendo Switch 2 is the next step in at-home gaming that can be taken on the go based on eight years of play and discovery that began with Nintendo Switch. With its new features that expand the possibilities of gaming experiences, I truly believe that Nintendo Switch 2 is a leap forward in our journey of putting smiles on the faces of everyone that Nintendo touches.”

The Nintendo Direct presentation also revealed a wide array of games, accessories, and enhancements coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch and beyond. Stay tuned for more details as we approach the June 5 launch date.
