Charlie Cox's successful transition from Netflix's Daredevil to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has sparked speculation about potential comebacks for other members of The Defenders. Finn Jones, who portrayed Danny Rand/Iron Fist, has expressed his eagerness to reprise his role, stating at the LaConve anime convention in Monterrey, NL, Mexico, "I’m here and I’m ready."
Jones last appeared as Iron Fist in Season 2 of the Netflix series and in The Defenders, where he teamed up with Charlie Cox's Daredevil, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones. Despite the lukewarm reception to his portrayal, Jones remains hopeful and acknowledges the criticism he received. He told the convention audience, "There is a willingness for the fans to see that happen... There’s a lot of willingness for the fans to see that not happen as well. I’m very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it. My response to that is like, give me a f***ing chance, man. I want to prove people wrong. So I would love to see that happen."
The integration of the Netflix series into the MCU canon, as evidenced by Daredevil: Born Again, has fueled hopes for a revival of The Defenders. This new series continues the story from the Netflix version and includes other former Netflix-exclusive characters like Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, now part of the broader MCU narrative available on Disney+.
While the future of Iron Fist in the MCU remains uncertain, Finn Jones's determination and the positive reception of Daredevil's MCU return suggest that other Defenders might yet have a chance to make their mark in this expansive universe.
