Freedom Wars Remastered: Weapon Types Detailed

In *Freedom Wars Remastered*, you have the freedom to equip two weapons of your choice before diving into an Operation, allowing you to tailor your character to any playstyle you desire. With six distinct weapon types at your disposal, you can mix and match to create a perfect arsenal for your strategy. Some of these weapons boast unique effects when charged, adding an extra layer of tactical depth to your gameplay.

You can acquire new weapons by successfully completing operations or by making purchases at the Zakka store in The Warren. While you can't directly choose the weapons for your Comrades, you have full control over your Accessory's equipment. Switching between weapons or modifying your Accessory's gear comes with no penalties or benefits, giving you the flexibility to adapt on the fly. Here's a rundown of the six weapon types and what sets them apart:

Every Weapon Type in Freedom Wars Remastered

Weapon Type Traits
Light Melee Quick attacks perfect for fast-paced playstyles, excelling at targeting single enemies. Can sever Abductor limbs without a Flare Knife.
Heavy Melee Delivers wide arcing attacks with substantial damage. Capable of hitting multiple Abductor limbs for multiplied damage. Charged attacks can launch you into the air, concluding your combo. Slightly reduces your movement speed when equipped.
Polearm Attacks involve charging through enemies, helping you evade incoming attacks. Charged attacks allow you to throw the polearm for massive damage from a safe distance.
Assault Weapons Boasts high ammo capacity, ideal for gun-centric builds. Can be fired while grappled with your Thorne, offering better shooting angles or safe distance.
Portable Artillery Offers high single-shot damage but with limited ammo. Explosive AOE shots can hit multiple Abductor limbs for amplified damage. Reduces your movement speed when equipped.
Autocannons Features a high rate of fire, large ammo capacity, and big magazine size. While individual shots may not deal much damage, the rapid firing compensates. Slows your movement speed when equipped.

It's worth noting that, unlike the player, your Accessory does not need to worry about ammo when using gun weapons, offering a strategic advantage in prolonged engagements.
