Purchasing from Merilyn is the fastest and most reliable way to obtain Paradisan Ladder in Avowed. She's located in South Paradise, as shown on the map above. When you first meet her, she'll discuss her rivalry with her blacksmith sister nearby before allowing you to browse her inventory. Merilyn stocks five units of Paradisan Ladder, each priced at 150 coins.
Additionally, she sells two items—the Many-Hued Doublet light armor and the Common Grimoire of Elements—that can be broken down to yield two units of Paradisan Ladder each. Note that her inventory does not replenish after selling out, even after a day's rest at a party camp. Despite this, visiting Merilyn remains the best option for quick upgrades.

Paradisan Ladder can also be found by exploring Avowed's wilderness and occasionally in cities like Paradis. Keep an eye on your mini-map for the plant logo, marked with a red circle above, to track them down. While other plants may resemble Paradisan Ladder, picking up any you come across during your quests will help you build your stockpile for free.
Avowed's difficulty curve is partly designed to encourage participation in side quests, which often reward you with Paradisan Ladder. For instance, the early side quest "Escape Plan," which you'll encounter during the campaign, rewards you with two units of Paradisan Ladder among other crafting materials. Engaging in these quests not only helps you gather this essential herb but also earns you XP and other bonuses.
In Avowed, you can dismantle items to reclaim their core crafting materials, such as Softwood Branches, Pelts, and Iron Chunks. This method also applies to Paradisan Ladder; breaking down items upgraded with it at a party camp workbench will return some of the herb. As noted with Merilyn, check merchants' inventories for unique items that mention Paradisan Ladder in their "Break Down" section.
