As part of HP's major Memorial Day sale, the company is running impressive promotions on its Omen Max 16 gaming laptops featuring the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 mobile GPUs. The Omen Max is HP’s new flagship gaming laptop for 2025—essentially an upgraded Omen 16 with premium materials like an aluminum-magnesium alloy chassis and improved cooling to support cutting-edge hardware. These new graphics cards deliver a solid performance jump over the RTX 40 series, with the RTX 5070 Ti rivaling the RTX 4080 and the RTX 5080 outperforming the RTX 4090.

The Core Ultra 7 255HX reaches a max turbo frequency of 5.2GHz with 20 cores and 36MB total L2 cache. It's a current-generation Intel CPU that delivers gaming performance comparable to the Core Ultra 9 275HX.
According to Notebookcheck, the RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU is the true successor to the RTX 4070, matching the RTX 4080 in performance. The base RTX 5070, however, falls short and only performs similarly to the RTX 4070. The 5070 Ti is more than capable of smoothly running any game at the native 1920x1200 resolution.

The Core Ultra 9 275HX offers a max turbo frequency of 5.4GHz, 24 cores, and 40MB of total L2 cache. Passmark rates it as the fastest laptop CPU available, outperforming AMD's Ryzen 9 7945HX3D by around 7%.
As reported by Tom's Hardware, the RTX 5080 mobile GPU is approximately 15–20% faster than the RTX 4080 mobile it replaces. It also edges out the previous flagship RTX 4090 by about 5%. The RTX 5080 is considered a smarter purchase than the much costlier RTX 5090—it's only 15% slower but nearly $1,000 cheaper. This GPU can handle the latest and upcoming titles at high frame rates, even at the panel's native 2560x1600 resolution.
