Jack Quaid, star of The Boys, has expressed his interest in starring in a BioShock film, describing the acclaimed first-person shooter as one of his all-time favorite games.
During a Reddit AMA coinciding with the release of his new movie, Novocaine, Quaid noted that BioShock features "such a rich lore" that would be perfect for a television or film adaptation.
"I would genuinely love to be part of a live-action Bioshock adaptation—it's one of my favorite games ever," he commented. "The game's world is so deeply immersive, offering abundant material for a TV series or movie."
But how likely is it that a Bioshock film will actually be produced? Last July, producer Roy Lee mentioned that after leadership transitions, the video game adaptation had been "reconfigured" to become a "more personal" project.
Lee attributed some of these changes to reduced budgets from Netflix. While specific plot details for the BioShock movie remain under wraps, making it unclear how the project differed prior to these adjustments, Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence is still set to direct.
"The new leadership has trimmed the budgets," Lee explained at the time. "We're now working on a significantly scaled-down version. The focus is on a more intimate perspective rather than an epic, large-scale production."
Quaid's remarks about BioShock come alongside his acknowledgment that he bears a striking resemblance to video game action hero Max Payne, whose appearance is modeled after Remedy writer Sam Lake. In fact, certain scenes from Quaid's latest action film, Novocaine, have led fans to speculate whether it might be a hidden Max Payne movie.
Live action Max Payne. Seems so real so worth it. This is Max Payne. You got me watching this now. Even the woman looks like the woman from Max Payne 2 lol. The resemblance is almost as if NovoCaine characters (basically is) by the same actor (Jack Quad looking like Sam Lake) pic.twitter.com/kawh2C1B2n

However, it appears Quaid is less acquainted with Max Payne, which Remedy is currently remaking in collaboration with original publisher and rights holder Rockstar.
"I've noticed people pointing out that I resemble Max Payne, and even I had to look twice when I saw the box art," Quaid added. "I'm a huge fan of Rockstar's games, but I haven't had the chance to play that one yet—it's definitely next on my list."
Besides Bioshock, Quaid is an avid fan of FromSoftware games. In the same Reddit AMA, he shared his appreciation for the demanding gameplay of titles like Bloodborne and Elden Ring.
"I'm a major video game enthusiast," he said. "Recently, I've been immersing myself in the FromSoftware catalog. I completed Bloodborne, then Sekiro, and now I'm fully engrossed in Elden Ring. In fact, Reddit is my go-to source for strategies on defeating FromSoftware's bosses. I truly admire the games' difficulty—it took some time to get into them, but now I'm completely hooked."
