Five years after its initial announcement, we’re finally about to get our first proper look at IO Interactive’s new James Bond game. Originally revealed as Project 007, the official title is 007 First Light, and a full reveal is scheduled for this week.

In a recent post on Twitter/X, developer IO Interactive shared a still image showing what appears to be James Bond in silhouette, softly illuminated by a single beam of light. Accompanying text reads "First Light 007" and "Game reveal this week," along with the hashtag "#EarnTheNumber"—suggesting the game will be an origin story exploring how Bond earned his iconic 007 designation.

No further details were shared in the post, but it’s likely the game will appear during one of the upcoming week’s showcases, such as Summer Game Fest, Summer of Gaming, or other gaming events typically held in early June.

007 First Light was first announced in 2020 under the working title Project 007. Since then, information has been scarce. We know it’s an original James Bond origin story, not tied directly to any existing film. In a recent statement, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak shared his hope that this will launch a new trilogy of games, adding that the studio’s Hitman series is currently on hold while the team focuses on the Bond title. Moreover, it was confirmed in April that—in addition to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox—the game will also be released on Nintendo Switch 2.
