For a limited time, Amazon is offering the Lenovo Legion Go at the lowest price we've ever seen—one of the top Windows-based gaming handhelds on the market. Right now, you can grab the Lenovo Legion Go equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU and 512GB of storage for just $499.99, shipped, after a 30% instant discount. The Legion Go stands out with a larger, sharper display, detachable controllers, and a more robust battery compared to the Asus ROG Ally. Plus, with SteamOS now widely available from Valve, you can install it on this device and effectively transform it into a high-powered Steam Deck alternative.

The Lenovo Legion Go is a Windows 11-powered gaming handheld featuring an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU with Radeon graphics and 16GB of RAM—the same powerful configuration found in the $700 Asus ROG Ally Z1 Extreme and ROG Ally X models. It also comes with an impressive 8.8-inch 2560x1600 resolution display with a 144Hz refresh rate, offering a much larger and sharper screen than most handhelds. Its detachable controllers mirror the flexibility of the Nintendo Switch, allowing you to prop it up with the built-in kickstand for a true console-like experience. Running on Windows 11, the Legion Go is fully compatible with major PC gaming platforms such as Steam, Origin, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store, Genshin Impact, Battle.net, and more.

In Jacqueline Thomas’ in-depth review of the Lenovo Legion Go, she noted, “It is easily the best handheld gaming PC on the market right now when judged by screen size, processing power, and USB-C port placement—though there are a few trade-offs. The device is quite large, and the 1600p display demands more from the hardware than it can consistently deliver. As a result, you’ll likely need to adjust (and often lower) graphics settings to maintain smooth performance. Battery life is also modest at best. Naturally, you're paying a premium over the Steam Deck OLED for the larger screen, full Windows 11 OS, and added performance. But if you love the idea of a Switch-style setup—detachable controllers, kickstand, and all—this is the ultimate pick.”

Since that review, the Asus ROG Ally X has entered the scene, challenging the Legion Go’s position as the top-tier handheld. However, it comes at a significantly higher price point—currently $899.99 at Best Buy, which is $400 more than the discounted Legion Go. Given the performance, features, and current deal, the Legion Go offers far better value for most gamers.

If you take advantage of this offer, we recommend pairing your Legion Go with a portable power bank for longer gaming sessions on the go and a Micro SD card for expanded storage. While our comparison of the Steam Deck and ROG Ally doesn’t directly include the Legion Go, it provides valuable insight into the key differences between SteamOS and Windows-based handhelds—helping you make a more informed decision.
