Nintendo's upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom—Zelda's first starring role—offers a surprising twist revealed by a recent ESRB rating: players will control both Zelda and Link.

Zelda and Link: A Dual Protagonist Adventure

The ESRB listing confirms the game's E 10+ rating and the absence of microtransactions. It describes Zelda's quest to seal rifts across Hyrule and rescue Link. Gameplay mechanics differ between characters: Link wields sword and arrow, while Zelda utilizes a magic wand to summon creatures like wind-up knights and slime for combat. Enemies are defeated through various means, including fire and disintegration.

This marks a monumental shift for the Zelda franchise, making Princess Zelda the protagonist for the first time. The game's popularity is evident, with Echoes of Wisdom quickly becoming a top wishlisted title following its summer showcase reveal.
