What is MTG Edge of Eternities?

This year, Wizards of the Coast is diving deep into the 'Universes Beyond' series, with Final Fantasy kicking off three sets that borrow from iconic external franchises. Following this, Spider-Man and Avatar: The Last Airbender will round out the year. While opinions on these crossovers vary, Edge of Eternities stands apart, focusing on a cosmic narrative firmly rooted within the Magic universe. Nestled between Final Fantasy and Spider-Man, this set marks the beginning of the final chapter in the Metronome storyline, which commenced with Wilds of Eldraine. Although we've only seen concept art so far, anticipation is high for what's to come.

Play Boosters have now become the standard for opening packs, superseding Set and Draft Boosters. These packs are suitable for draft and sealed play, each containing 15 cards. The last card might be an advertisement, art card, or token. Cards 1 to 6 are common, with card 7 being a common that could be a reprint. Cards 8, 9, and 10 are uncommons, while card 11 guarantees a rare or mythic. Card 12 is a Land, which might be foil or full art, and card 13 is a wildcard that can be any card from the set. Card 14 is a guaranteed foil wildcard, enhancing your chances of pulling chase cards. You can purchase Play Boosters individually or in a booster box.

Collector Boosters are significantly more expensive than Play Boosters and come with 16 cards, including one token. They offer five rare or mythic rares, four uncommons, five commons, and one land. Many of these cards feature enhanced frame designs, with 12 to 13 cards being foils. You can buy them singly or in a box, but be prepared for the premium price tag.

Commander has become the most popular format in Magic, thanks to its 'last player standing' thrill and 100-card decks that are ready to play straight out of the box. The number of decks in each set has varied this year, from two in Aetherdrift to five in Tarkir: Dragonstorm, and four in Final Fantasy. Edge of Eternities will feature two decks: World Shaper and Counter Intelligence. World Shaper uses Black, Red, and Green (Jund) colors, encouraging players to "Sacrifice Lands" and "Grow Back Stronger". Counter Intelligence, in Blue, Red, and White (Jeskai) colors, enables you to "Boost Artifacts" and "Proliferate Counters".

As is customary, you'll find a Bundle and Prerelease Pack for the new set. Bundles include nine Play Boosters, one promo card with exclusive alternate art, a full set of 10 Full-Art Lands in both foil and non-foil, a spindown dice, and a card storage box. Prerelease Packs, intended for use at prerelease events, contain six Play Boosters for building a 40-card deck. These are available at your local game store.
