Edge Game Assist: The Gaming-Optimized Browser

Introducing The Game-Aware Tab

Microsoft has introduced the Edge Game Assist, a groundbreaking in-game browser optimized for PC gaming. Recognizing that "88% of PC players use a browser while gaming to get help, track their progress, or even listen to music or chat with friends," Microsoft aims to streamline this process. Instead of the cumbersome task of pulling out your phone or using Alt-Tab to switch to your desktop, Edge Game Assist offers a seamless solution.

This innovative browser overlays on top of your game via the Game Bar, ensuring a smooth experience without the need to exit your game. It integrates seamlessly with your existing Microsoft Edge data, syncing your favorites, history, cookies, and form fills across your PC and mobile devices, so you don't need to log in again.

One of the standout features of Edge Game Assist is its "game-aware tab page." This feature automatically suggests tips and guides relevant to the game you're playing, saving you the effort of manually searching for them. Microsoft's research indicates that "40% of PC players look up tips, guides, and other help while they play," and Edge Game Assist aims to make this process more intuitive. You can even pin this tab to keep the widget visible in real-time, making it easier to follow guides as you play.

Currently, this feature is in its beta phase and supports a select list of popular games including:

  • Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Diablo IV
  • Fortnite
  • Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga
  • League of Legends
  • Minecraft
  • Overwatch 2
  • Roblox
  • Valorant

Microsoft promises to expand support to more games as Edge Game Assist continues to develop.

To start using Edge Game Assist, download the Beta or Preview version of Microsoft Edge and set it as your default browser. Navigate to Settings within the Edge Beta or Preview window and search for Game Assist to install the widget. Stay tuned for more updates and supported games!
