Mortal Kombat 1 added a secret fighter with a reference to a legendary rock band

This week's Mortal Kombat 1 update brought a surprise addition to the roster: Conan the Barbarian. But the real unexpected guest is a pink-clad ninja named Floyd – a completely unannounced, yet fully playable, secret character.

This isn't just a random addition; Floyd is a clear nod to the iconic Pink Floyd. His introduction visually echoes Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album cover, showcasing a light prism effect. Interestingly, Floyd's moveset is a compilation of techniques borrowed from other ninjas in the game, incorporating Sub-Zero's freezing abilities and Scorpion's spear attacks. Adding to the fun, Floyd boasts a quirky 1337 health points.

Long-time Mortal Kombat fans will recognize a parallel to Reptile, the secret character from the original Mortal Kombat game. Like Floyd, Reptile was notoriously difficult to defeat and utilized a moveset drawn from other ninjas.

Unlocking Floyd currently appears to be somewhat random, though he offers clues regarding the necessary in-game challenges. The community is actively working to uncover the precise method for triggering this encounter, but a definitive solution remains elusive.
