Netflix Cancels

Netflix has officially announced the closure of its interactive fiction games under the Netflix Stories banner, marking the end of a brief yet intriguing experiment in narrative gaming. This decision might come as a surprise to many, given the solid player base these games had cultivated. So, what led to the cancellation of Netflix Stories? Let's dive into the details!

The news, first reported by Variety, aligns with a strategic pivot at Netflix Games. The company is now shifting its focus towards mobile titles that cater to party games, children's games, mainstream releases, and more interactive experiences that can be enjoyed on TV screens.

Boss Fight Entertainment, the studio behind the Netflix Stories series, will continue to collaborate with Netflix on other projects, including the much-anticipated Squid Game: Unleashed.

Netflix Stories Gets Cancelled, So Is It Shutting Down?

Despite facing some criticism, Netflix Stories consistently held a strong position among the most-played titles on Netflix Games. Recent reports place it at number four in the Netflix Games top 10 carousel, which ranks games based on playtime rather than downloads.

As for the future of the series, Love Is Blind: NYC will be the final interactive title released under the Netflix Stories banner. Once its rollout concludes, no new games in this series will be developed. This announcement follows closely on the heels of the Netflix Stories app teasing its next game, The Love Contract, slated for an April 8th release. Unlike its predecessors, The Love Contract was an original romance story featuring an actress navigating a complex love triangle between a Hollywood star and a billionaire, amidst fame, scandal, and fake dating. Unfortunately, this project has now been cancelled.

While new developments have been halted, the existing Netflix Stories games will remain accessible. Fans can continue to enjoy titles such as Love Is Blind, Emily in Paris, Money Heist, Love Is Blind: Winter’s Kiss, Perfect Match, Sex Education, Selling Sunset, Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, and The Perfect Couple. However, planned sequels such as Outer Banks and Ginny & Georgia have been shelved.

That's the full story on the cancellation of Netflix Stories! If you're a fan of Netflix shows, you can still explore these games on the Google Play Store.
