Nintendo has recently announced the upgrade costs for transitioning from the original Switch versions to the enhanced Switch 2 Editions of two popular titles: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. The price tag for these upgrades is significantly higher than what players paid for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which cost $9.99 each to upgrade.
According to NintendoLife, the upgrades for both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are more than double the cost of the Zelda upgrades. For instance, the Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild includes improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integration with the new "Zelda Notes" service available on the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Switch version can purchase a $10 upgrade pack to enjoy these enhancements.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces new story content called Star-Crossed World. Meanwhile, Super Mario Party Jamboree's Switch 2 Edition features Jamboree TV, a new suite of content utilizing the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, Switch 2 microphone, and the Switch 2 USB-C camera, which will be sold separately. These editions also boast upgraded resolutions up to 1440p in TV mode, improved frame rates, new minigames, and enhanced online functions.
While U.S. prices on the American Nintendo eShop have not been finalized—potentially due to fluctuations related to President Trump's tariffs—the UK Nintendo eShop lists the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade pack at £16.99 / €19.99, a sharp contrast to the £7.99 / €9.99 charged for upgrading either Zelda game. The Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV upgrade is similarly priced at £16.99 / €19.99, hinting at a possible $19.99 price point in the U.S.
This elevated $20 upgrade fee could be influenced by the steep $80 price tags of the full Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. In comparison, their original Switch versions are priced at $59.99 each.
For those opting not to upgrade, here are the costs of the standalone Switch 2 Edition games in the U.S.:
It's worth noting that subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack can access the upgrade packs for both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom at no additional cost. However, no such offer is currently available for those looking to upgrade Kirby or Super Mario Party Jamboree.
