Pokécology: An Official Encyclopedia For Pokémon Behaviors and Ecology

Launches in Japan in June 2025

The Pokémon Company, in partnership with the esteemed Japanese comic publisher Shogakukan, is set to release a comprehensive encyclopedia dedicated to the behaviors and ecology of Pokémon. Shogakukan's official announcement on April 21 revealed that Pokécology will hit the shelves in Japan on June 18, 2025.

Pre-orders are now open across bookstores throughout Japan. The book is priced at 1,430 yen, inclusive of tax. While there has been no official word on a global release, the immense global popularity of Pokémon suggests that fans around the world can anticipate an English version in the near future.

Pokémon Ecology Encyclopedia

This official Pokémon encyclopedia will delve deep into the ecology of these beloved creatures, offering a detailed examination and analysis from multiple scientific angles. Pokécology will explore aspects such as the diet, sleep patterns, physical characteristics, and interactions of Pokémon with their environment and each other.

Authored by a team of distinguished veterinary behaviorists and ecology experts from the University of Tokyo, Pokécology is led by ecologist Yoshinari Yonehara, who spearheaded the research on wild Pokémon. The book will also feature stunning full-color illustrations by acclaimed artist Chihiro Kino, known for her work in animal ecology.
