Rainbow Six Siege X has initiated its Closed Beta, showcasing the groundbreaking 6v6 Dual Front game mode. Discover everything about this new combat experience and the beta test details.
Ubisoft confirmed via their official channels that Rainbow Six Siege X will conduct its Closed Beta from March 13th (12 PM PT/3 PM ET/8 PM CET) until March 19th (12 PM PT/3 PM ET/8 PM CET), commencing right after the R6 Siege X Showcase concludes.
Players can secure beta access by watching the R6 Siege X Showcase on Rainbow 6's official Twitch channel or participating streamers' broadcasts to claim Twitch drops. The beta will feature the innovative Dual Front mode on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
Currently, some players report not receiving beta access emails as expected. Ubisoft Support addressed this on Twitter/X on March 14th, confirming they're actively resolving distribution issues.
Notably, R6 Siege X represents a transformative update rather than a new title, bringing enhanced graphics and technical improvements to elevate the Siege experience.
Dual Front introduces dynamic 6v6 combat featuring simultaneous attack and defense gameplay on the new District map. Ubisoft describes this mode as pioneering "foundational upgrades including visual enhancements, audio improvements, and rappeling innovations" alongside new anti-cheat measures and free access options.
This innovation marks Siege's first implementation of concurrent attacking and defending Operators, creating unprecedented tactical possibilities through gadget combinations.
The update retains classic Siege gameplay under the "Core Siege" label, featuring graphically overhauled versions of Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe maps with upgraded textures and destructibility. Additional maps will receive updates in future seasons.
After a decade, Siege transitions to free-to-play following industry trends. Game Director Alexander Karpazis explained at the Atlanta showcase: "We want to eliminate barriers for new players to experience Siege's unique tactical gameplay with friends."
Free access includes Unranked, Quick Play, and Dual Front modes, while Ranked and Siege Cup remain premium features. Karpazis emphasized this maintains competitive integrity: "The premium requirement preserves Ranked's competitive environment by deterring smurfs and cheaters."
Despite reaching its decade milestone, Ubisoft never pursued a Siege sequel. Karpazis stated: "Siege 2 was never our approach. After three years developing Siege X alongside regular updates, we're focused on evolving the existing experience for another decade."
"Our community built Siege's success," Karpazis added. "Siege X demonstrates our commitment to meaningful improvements while respecting our playerbase."
