During IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, Ratatan Works, the developers behind Ratatan, released an enthralling gameplay trailer. This trailer not only showcased the game's mechanics but also featured an epic battle against a giant boss crab, giving fans a thrilling sneak peek into what Ratatan has to offer.
Ratatan combines the rhythm and roguelike elements into a unique side-scrolling action experience. One of the standout features is the online co-op mode, allowing up to 4 players to join forces. The game supports up to 100 characters in a massive melee, promising an exhilarating gameplay experience.
Developed by Hiroyuki Kotani, the creator of Patapon, and featuring the original Patapon musician Kemmei Adachi, Ratatan is poised to capture the hearts of fans. Its successful Kickstarter campaign in 2023 reached the console launch stretch goal, ensuring its availability on multiple platforms.
According to a recent update on their Kickstarter page, Ratatan's closed beta is scheduled to commence on February 27, 2025. Although the game will not participate in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is focusing on delivering an enhanced demo for the Steam Next festival in June. Sakajiri outlined that the closed beta will initially feature gameplay up to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 being added during the test period, which will span approximately a month. Details on code distribution, start dates, and times will be shared via Discord and X once confirmed.
Ratatan is set to launch in 2025 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While an exact release date has yet to be announced, anticipation continues to build for this exciting new title.
