Rockstar, the renowned developers behind the GTA series, have released an Anniversary Edition update for Bully on mobile devices, marking the first update in six years. This update is exclusively available for mobile users and does not extend to console or PC platforms.
Rockstar Hasn’t Forgotten about Bullworth Academy!
Bully: Anniversary Edition now includes support for new languages and emphasizes stability improvements and bug fixes. Notably, Rockstar has temporarily disabled Friends Challenges to enhance the gaming experience.
For Android users with compatible devices, the update introduces Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO), alongside a refreshed app icon and the addition of haptic feedback across both Android and iOS platforms.
Several mission-specific issues have been resolved, including the previously unpickable locker in 'That Bitch', the progression halt in 'Weed Killer' if the window was broken prematurely, and the sinking police cars in 'The Rumble'. The update also addresses gameplay issues such as enemies not engaging Jimmy in combat, which made fights feel unbalanced, and fixes crashes that occurred when starting a new game or loading saves from the pause menu.
What Do Players Have to Say about Bully: Anniversary Edition?
The gaming community has been vocal about their desire for a sequel, Bully 2, for years. Although there were reports of Bully 2 being in development during the 2010s, it was ultimately shelved in favor of projects like Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online. With GTA 6 on the horizon and many of the original Bully team members having moved on from Rockstar, the prospects for Bully 2 seem slim. However, this new update, while not a full remaster or sequel, provides a significant upgrade for mobile players.
For those new to the series, Bully offers a unique take on the schoolyard sandbox genre, where players control Jimmy Hopkins, a 15-year-old navigating the challenges of Bullworth Academy. The game retains the hallmark Rockstar humor and open-world mischief that fans love.
You can experience Bully: Anniversary Edition on the Google Play Store for €7.99, complete with full gamepad support.
