Rune Slayer Fishing Guide

Dismiss any doubts you might have—*Rune Slayer* is undeniably an MMORPG, and the proof is in the pudding (or rather, the fish). Yes, *Rune Slayer* features fishing, the quintessential MMORPG activity. This guide will walk you through the surprisingly non-intuitive process of fishing in *Rune Slayer*. (Don't worry, we struggled too!)

Before you even think about reeling in a catch, you'll need to accept a quest. Seek out Simon the Fisherman (the white-haired NPC near the Barracuda swimming area). He'll task you with catching five "fish" in exchange for a handy Tackle Box (we'll explain the quotation marks later).

To embark on this aquatic adventure, you'll need a fishing rod and bait. Conveniently, Simon the Fisherman sells both. Purchase a Wood Fishing Rod and at least five Worms (ten is recommended). Crucially, you *don't* equip the bait; simply keep the Worms in your inventory. Each successful catch (or even unsuccessful one!) will automatically consume a Worm.

Here's the catch (pun intended): You seemingly need at least five Worms in your inventory to catch *anything*. We initially tried with fewer and had no luck. Keeping your Worms in your hotbar for easy tracking is highly recommended.

Select your Wood Fishing Rod (you won't equip it; just having it selected in your hotbar is sufficient). Cast your line (hold M1) into a body of water (the pier near Simon works perfectly). Watch your bobber; when it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch.

Important Note: Success isn't guaranteed. You'll often catch nothing, or even junk. However, Simon counts junk as a "catch," hence the earlier quotation marks around "fish". Simply repeat the process until you have five catches of any kind.

Once you've achieved five catches, return to Simon the Fisherman to complete the quest and receive your Tackle Box. Store your remaining Worms in the Tackle Box to free up valuable inventory space. Congratulations, you've conquered Rune Slayer's fishing!
