The Samsung 990 Evo Plus delivers excellent performance for both gaming PCs and PlayStation 5 consoles. Exceeding Sony's PS5 speed requirements, it offers sequential speeds up to 7,250MB/s read and 6,300MB/s write. While faster than the standard 990 Evo, it slightly trails the 990 Pro. The key difference lies in the absence of DRAM, though this doesn't affect PS5 performance. For PC use, its HMB (host memory buffer) technology compensates by utilizing minimal system RAM, making the performance difference negligible for gamers.

Unlike some models, the 990 Evo Plus doesn't include a preinstalled heatsink. However, its efficient single-sided design generates less heat than previous SSD generations. While it should function perfectly in a PS5 without thermal issues, we recommend adding an affordable ($10) PS5-compatible heatsink for optimal performance.
