Relic Entertainment, the studio behind Company of Heroes, is branching out with a new turn-based strategy game: Earth vs. Mars. This smaller-scale title, launching this Summer on PC via Steam, puts players in a desperate fight for Earth's survival against a Martian invasion.
The core gameplay revolves around the Splice-O-Tron, a device used to create bizarre and powerful hybrid creatures – think Squirrel-Cows, Human-Rhinos, and Cheetah-Flies – to bolster Earth's defenses. Inspired by the classic Advance Wars, the game offers a unique blend of strategy and creature creation.
Relic explains the Martian threat: "For decades, Martians have secretly visited Earth, abducting humans and animals to harvest their atomic essence. Now, they've launched a full-scale invasion, and it's up to Earth's resistance to fight back." Players will command Earth's military against advanced Martian weaponry, including saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors.

Earth vs. Mars features a robust single-player campaign with 30+ missions, online multiplayer allowing players to command either Earth or Mars, a VS Mode for AI challenges, and a map editor for custom creations.
Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell stated, "We're thrilled to put a Relic spin on the Advance Wars formula, incorporating our signature style while drawing inspiration from our earlier games. This marks a new strategy for Relic: alongside our traditional RTS titles, we'll be developing smaller, indie-style games to explore new genres, experiment creatively, and release games more frequently."
