Nintendo has released an update for Splatoon 3 that enhances its visual performance and gameplay on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Update 10.0.0 boosts the resolution of images saved to the Switch 2 album, delivers smoother movement in areas like Splatsville, Inkopolis, Inkopolis Square, and Grand Festival Grounds, and improves animations for specific characters, including jellyfish and Salmonids—especially when large groups appear in Salmon Run.

Beyond these performance and visual upgrades for Switch 2, the update introduces 30 new weapon kits from Barazushi and Emberz (the Splatlands Collection), and brings back the fan-favorite Urchin Underpass stage from the original Splatoon on Wii U.

Nintendo confirmed its next update will "focus on multiplayer balance based on analysis of how these new weapons impact the current gameplay environment."

Other Changes

Maximum weapon Freshness has been raised to 10★.New badges are now available for reaching Freshness levels 6★ through 10★.Weapons that previously earned XP beyond the old cap will see their Freshness increase after one battle, reflecting that stored progress.New badges are now tied to the number of weapons with Freshness ★★★★ or higher.Players you’ve battled in Anarchy Battle (Series) and Splatfest Battle (Pro) no longer appear in the "Users You Have Played With" list on Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 consoles.

This update includes new weapons, a returning stage, a higher Freshness cap, the Series Weapon feature for Anarchy Battle (Series), call signs in X Battles, and optimizations for the Nintendo Switch 2.

For Anarchy Battle (Series), we introduced the Series Weapon feature aimed at Rank S and above players.

This system calculates a Series Weapon Power for each equipped weapon and matches you with opponents of similar proficiency.

We hope this encourages players to experiment with a wider range of weapons, including those from the Splatlands Collection added in this update.

We also implemented balance adjustments for multiplayer battles.

For S-BLAST ‘92 and S-BLAST ‘91, we created more counterplay opportunities, as opponents previously had limited openings at any range.

For the Crab Tank, we lowered the cannon’s maximum damage to reduce instances where the targeted player had no chance to evade. We also made it easier for other special weapons to challenge the Crab Tank.

For Toxic Mist, ink consumption has been reduced, improving synergy with main weapons. At the same time, we increased the delay before ink recovery begins, to discourage continuous sub-weapon spamming.

This week, Nintendo unveiled Splatoon Raiders, a completely new spin-off title exclusive to the Switch 2. The surprise announcement came via a trailer first released on the Nintendo Today! App. While a release window was not provided, Nintendo stated that more details will be shared in the future.
