Stalker 2: For Science! Side Quest Walkthrough

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players will stumble upon various NPCs during their exploration of The Zone, often leading to engaging side quests, such as "For Science!". This particular quest involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who needs help activating a second measuring device atop a silo. While short, completing it grants players access to the STC Malachite facility via a Malachite pass.

Initiating the "For Science!" Side Quest

To begin "For Science!", locate Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, you'll hear Mongoose radio Skif, requesting a meeting. Inside the Central Elevator, bypass the conveyor belts, ascend the rusty stairs, and vault the railing to reach Mongoose on the first floor. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo, initiating the quest upon your agreement.

Reaching the Silo's Peak

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Dispatch any rodents you encounter, then climb out a broken window and descend the external ladder to the silo walkway. Equip your bolt-action weapon to counter the electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the second measuring device. Activating the device will attract a pack of Bloodsuckers. Choose to fight or evade them to reach Mongoose.

The Confrontation with Yaryk Mongoose

Upon confronting Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unintended consequences. You can choose to kill him for endangering Skif or accept the reward and depart. Neither choice significantly impacts the game's progression. Killing Mongoose allows looting the Malachite pass; however, choosing the peaceful option provides the pass and additional coupons. The pass grants access to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through the main storyline.
