Nintendo has officially confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will indeed support cloud saves on Switch 2.
While the Nintendo Switch 2 was already confirmed to receive enhanced versions of several Switch titles including Tears of the Kingdom, recent concerns arose when IGN reported that some games might not support Nintendo's cloud save feature as expected.
The initial concern stemmed from a disclaimer appearing on Nintendo's product pages for Tears of the Kingdom's Switch 2 edition, which stated: "Please note: this software does not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership's Save Data Cloud backup feature."
Nintendo has since updated its website with clarifying information. While Donkey Kong Bananza's page now omits any cloud save reference entirely, the Tears of the Kingdom page has been revised to specify: "Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch."

This clarification suggests players can transfer their original Switch save files to Switch 2, though save data created specifically on Switch 2 cannot be moved back to the original system (as reported by Eurogamer).
The product page for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition now includes the same message, indicating consistent handling of save transfers across Zelda titles.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders recently launched with the $449.99 price point remaining unchanged — with demand meeting expectations. For more details, consult IGN's comprehensive Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
