Nintendo Switch 2 Fans Decode New Game Case Size

Nintendo Switch 2 enthusiasts have moved their focus from the console itself to the size of its game cases, sparked by a potential leak from a retailer. According to Nintendo Life, journalist Felipe Lima discovered a listing for a Take-Two Interactive game on the French retailer Fnac, which included dimensions for a Nintendo Switch 2 game case. If accurate, these dimensions suggest that the Nintendo Switch 2 game boxes will be slightly larger than those for the original Nintendo Switch.

This speculation was visually represented in a Reddit post by HertzBurst, which placed the two box sizes side by side for comparison. According to the listing, the new game cases measure 5.1 inches by 7.7 inches (13 cm by 19.5 cm). While this makes them a bit larger than the current Nintendo Switch game cases, they remain significantly smaller than the standard cases used for Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5 games. Although not officially confirmed, it's plausible that retailers would need these dimensions early to prepare for stock displays.

As for the Nintendo Switch 2's release, while Nintendo has yet to announce an official window, speculation points towards a launch between June and September. This speculation is fueled by upcoming hands-on events scheduled through June and comments from Greedfall 2 publisher Nacon, indicating the console's release before September.

The Nintendo Switch 2 was unveiled earlier in January with a brief trailer that confirmed features such as backwards compatibility and an additional USB-C port. However, many details, including information on other games and the function of the mysterious new button on the Joy-Con, were left undisclosed.
