The demon-slaying action begins anew. Netflix is bringing Devil May Cry to life as an anime series, treating fans to an exclusive first look through a freshly released trailer. Even more thrilling is the posthumous appearance of legendary voice actor Kevin Conroy in this game-to-screen adaptation.
Conroy—revered for his iconic portrayals of Bruce Wayne/Batman across decades of animated films and TV shows—voices VP Baines, a new character heard narrating the teaser's opening sequence.
Following his acclaimed posthumous performance in 2024's Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths—Part 3, this marks another opportunity for fans to appreciate Conroy's vocal brilliance after his untimely 2022 passing at age 66. The star-studded cast features Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo, and Johnny Yong Bosch voicing protagonist Dante.
Netflix's official synopsis reveals: "A dark conspiracy threatens to merge humanity's world with the demon dimension. Caught in the conflict is Dante, a freelance demon hunter with a mysterious past—unaware he holds the key to both realms' survival."
Executive producer Adi Shankar (2012's Dredd, Killing Them Softly, and The Voices) serves as showrunner. While his long-anticipated Assassin's Creed adaptation remains in development limbo since 2017, fans remain hopeful it may eventually materialize.
Animation powerhouse Studio Mir (The Legend of Korra, X-Men '97) leads production. Mark your calendars: Devil May Cry premieres worldwide on Netflix starting April 3, 2025.
