"Metro Quester: Kemco's Fresh Departure from Tradition"

Whenever I write about Kemco, I find their releases both warmly welcomed and somewhat predictable. Their JRPGs from Japan often hit those familiar high-fantasy, melodramatic notes, yet maintain a high level of quality. However, their latest upcoming mobile port, Metro Quester, caught my attention for defying these conventions. Set to launch on April 21st, pre-registration is now open, and it promises a unique experience.

In Metro Quester, developed by Thousand Games, you dive into a dungeon-crawling RPG with a distinctive twist. Rather than exploring above ground and occasionally delving into ruins, you'll navigate a post-apocalyptic, Glukhovsky-esque world confined underground, traversing the ancient metro lines of a bygone era. This setting offers a fresh take on the genre, immersing players in a dense, atmospheric environment.

The character designs, crafted by Kazushi Hagiwara, known for works like Bastard!! The Dark God of Destruction, alongside other talented artists, ensure a high-quality yet dark and gloomy world to explore. This adds a compelling layer to the game's aesthetic and atmosphere.

ytKemco stands outI was genuinely excited to see Metro Quester in my inbox. It promises to be a standout in Kemco's catalogue, blending a dark world with retro top-down dungeon crawling. For those concerned about content, Metro Quester offers 24 characters, 8 classes, customizable weapons, a comprehensive bestiary, and more, ensuring a rich gaming experience.

While Metro Quester retains that familiar anime style, it's unlikely to be a point of contention for many. If you're seeking something new and intriguing to fuel your JRPG passion, keep an eye out for Metro Quester when it hits storefronts on April 21st.

In the meantime, why not explore our list of the top 25 best JRPGs on iOS and RPGs on Android? These titles offer a wide range of roleplaying experiences, from casual and enjoyable to dark and gritty, to tide you over until Metro Quester's release.
