Monster Hunter Wilds: Top Regional Dishes Ranked by Players

Capcom recently unveiled a comprehensive analysis of Monster Hunter Wilds’ player data. Titled “The Forbidden Lands White Paper 1,” the Japanese-language report examines player behavior following the April 4 update, highlighting a clear preference for specific in-game meals.

The April 4 update for Monster Hunter Wilds introduced new quests, monsters, and the Grand Hub, a social area for players to connect. The Grand Hub features a canteen where players can redeem Meal Vouchers for regional dishes from The Forbidden Lands. Consuming these meals grants buffs tailored to each dish, making the Grand Hub and its vouchers a convenient way to prepare characters for multiplayer quests without traveling to specific regions. Meal Vouchers are available as daily login rewards or Arena quest prizes.

According to Automaton Japan, the Forbidden Lands White Paper 1 detailed the usage of four regional Meal Vouchers. Spring Kunafa Cuisine dominated with 87.8% of voucher redemptions, followed by Fresh Sild Cuisine (8.2%), Colorful Suja Cuisine (3.5%), and Hot Azuz Cuisine (0.5%).

The report attributes Spring Kunafa Cuisine’s popularity to the five free vouchers distributed during the April 4 update, which many players used. These vouchers offer a chance at three buffs, with the Defender Meal (Hi) buff likely favored for its significant damage reduction during challenging quests.

Unequal distribution of regional vouchers may explain the lower usage of Sild, Suja, and Azuz cuisines. However, data on Pick-a-Meal Voucher usage provides clearer insight into player preferences.

Pick-a-Meal Vouchers allow players to select dishes from any region. Here, Hot Azuz Cuisine led with 41.3%, followed by Colorful Suja Cuisine (28.3%), Spring Kunafa Cuisine (19%), and Fresh Sild Cuisine (12%).

The white paper notes that players gravitate toward Azuz dishes for the Tumbler Meal (Hi) buff, which enhances evasion—a critical advantage for bow users filling the Trick Arrow Gauge through Discerning Dodges. Colorful Suja Cuisine, the second favorite, appeals to offensive players with buffs like Caprice Meal (Hi), boosting attack damage randomly, and Exploiter Meal, which increases rewards from breaking monster wounds, accompanied by vibrant sushi roll cutscenes.

While buff effects drive meal choices, Pick-a-Meal Voucher data sparked amusement, suggesting Fresh Sild Cuisine’s unpopularity. Most Monster Hunter Wilds dishes look delectable, with Kunafa’s banquet cutscene reportedly driving demand for cheese naan at Nepalese restaurants in Japan.

Sild Cuisine, tied to the barren Wyveria ruins, features simple, unappealing dishes like white tomatoes and raw garlic bulbs, contrasting with the lavish spreads of other regions. Players have labeled it “unappetizing,” as seen in a Reddit thread.
