Bethesda has officially stated that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered does not include official mod support, yet this hasn't deterred the passionate fanbase from creating their own unofficial mods. Within hours of the surprise release of Bethesda and Virtuos’ reimagining of Oblivion on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, a number of community-crafted mods surfaced on the well-known platform, Nexus Mods. These early efforts primarily focus on minor customizations, showcasing the unwavering dedication of The Elder Scrolls modding community.

PlayBy the time of this article’s release, an impressive total of 22 mods were already available on the site. The first mod to hit the scene offers PC players the ability to customize their desktop by swapping out the standard *Oblivion Remastered* shortcut with one featuring the game's iconic Adoring Fan. Several mods allow users to bypass the introductory Bethesda and Virtuos logo screens, while others, such as one that modifies the Wizard’s Fury spell and another that eliminates the in-game compass, provide initial steps towards deeper gameplay customization.

Despite Bethesda's usual support for modding in its titles, the company explicitly stated that Oblivion Remastered would not feature official mod support, a detail highlighted in the FAQ section of their website. However, this hasn't stopped modders. Nexus Mods user GodschildGaming released their Iron Longsword damage mod to demonstrate that modding Oblivion Remastered is still very much feasible.

“This is just to prove modding is possible,” they stated in the mod’s description. “Bethesda says no mod support, I say false. It really is Unreal slapped on top of Oblivion, the data folder is nested in a lot more folders but same concept.”
