For some time now, Tekken enthusiasts have been vocal about their desire to see a Waffle House stage included in the game. While this request might seem whimsical, it has garnered significant attention, especially since Tekken 8's director, Katsuhiro Harada, has shown genuine interest in exploring this idea.
On X/Twitter, Harada directly addressed fans who continue to push for a Waffle House stage in Tekken 8. He acknowledged that the demand is not only frequent but has also gained considerable momentum, which has piqued his curiosity enough to take action.
Harada admitted that he "fully understands" the fans' requests. He revealed that he has been contemplating the idea for quite some time and has already taken steps to make it a reality. "Over the past year or more, I've actually tried to make contact through several different channels," Harada shared on X/Twitter. He speculated that the lack of response might be due to his association with "fighting-themed video games," which could be deterring potential collaborators.
Despite the lack of progress, Harada remains open to the idea. He mentioned that if using a different name or format is acceptable, as long as "the core message is maintained," he would be willing to reconsider and explore the concept again. This suggests that while an official Waffle House stage might not be on the cards, a parody or an in-universe equivalent, like "Hustle House," as Harada suggested in another post, could still be a possibility.
Meanwhile, Tekken 8 continues to evolve with its latest update, Patch 2.01, and the confirmed addition of Fahkumram to the roster. In response to fan feedback about Season 2, Harada assured that the tuning team is working diligently to incorporate player suggestions and improve the game further.
So, while Kazuya and Jin might not be duking it out under the iconic yellow glow of a Waffle House sign anytime soon, Harada's willingness to adapt and innovate keeps the door open for exciting new additions to Tekken 8.
