PlayStation has officially announced that Borderlands 4 will be featured in its own dedicated State of Play today. The excitement kicked off with a Twitter (X) post on April 29, where PlayStation revealed that the Borderlands 4 State of Play is scheduled for April 30 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM BST / 11 PM CEST. According to a PlayStation.blog post dated April 29, viewers can look forward to 20 minutes of "developer-guided gameplay," featuring missions, powerful weapons, thrilling Action Skills, and a mix of new and returning characters.

Launch Date Moved to September 12

Hot on the heels of the State of Play announcement, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford dropped a bombshell via a Twitter (X) video on April 29, revealing that Borderlands 4 would hit the shelves earlier than planned, on September 12. Although the video was quickly deleted and followed by a tweet stating it was posted prematurely, the news was soon confirmed by Borderlands 4's official Twitter (X) account.

Pitchford shared in his video that the development is surpassing expectations, with "everything going kinda the best scenario," which prompted the decision to move up the launch date. Originally set for September 23, as announced during PlayStation's February State of Play, the game's release has now been expedited by two weeks.

The official Borderlands 4 Twitter (X) account posted, "After careful consideration–along with A LOT of meetings, playtestings, and incredible development work–we have made the monumental decision to MOVE UP THE LAUNCH DATE OF BORDERLANDS 4 to SEPTEMBER 12."
