Control your device effortlessly with switches or the front camera, enhancing your interaction with your phone or tablet. Using switches, you can select items, scroll through content, enter text, and perform a variety of actions, making your device more accessible.

Switch Access is designed to help you interact with your Android device using one or more switches, bypassing the need for direct touchscreen use. This feature is particularly beneficial if you find it challenging to interact with your device in the conventional manner.

Getting Started:

  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Navigate to Accessibility and then select Switch Access.

Setting Up a Switch:

Switch Access scans your screen, highlighting each item until you select one. You have several options for switches:

  • Physical Switches:

    • USB or Bluetooth switches, such as buttons or keyboards.
    • On-device switches, like volume buttons.
  • Camera Switches:

    • Use facial gestures such as opening your mouth, smiling, or raising your eyebrows.
    • Look left, right, or up to control your device.

Scanning Your Device:

Once your switch is set up, you can scan and interact with items on your screen using various scanning methods:

  • Linear Scanning: Moves between items one at a time.
  • Row-Column Scanning: Scans one row at a time, then moves through items in the selected row.
  • Point Scanning: Uses moving lines to pinpoint a specific horizontal and vertical location, followed by a "Select" action.
  • Group Selection: Assigns switches to different color groupings. Items on the screen are assigned colors, and you press the switch corresponding to the color of the desired item, narrowing down the selection until you reach your choice.

Using the Menus:

When an item is selected, a menu appears offering various interactions like select, scroll, copy, paste, and more. Additionally, a top-screen menu helps you navigate your device, allowing you to access notifications, return to the home screen, adjust volume, and more.

Navigating with Camera Switches:

Leverage your phone's front camera to navigate using facial gestures. This allows you to browse or select apps. You can customize the sensitivity and duration of each gesture to suit your needs.

Recording Shortcuts:

Record touch gestures such as pinching, zooming, scrolling, swiping, and double tapping, and assign them to a switch or start them from a menu. This feature enables you to perform frequent or complex actions with ease, for example, recording a gesture that swipes left twice to turn two pages of an ebook.

Permissions Notice:

  • Accessibility Service: As this app functions as an accessibility service, it has the capability to observe your actions, retrieve window content, and monitor the text you type.
