YouTuber Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán William McLoughlin, recently shared in a video titled 'A Bad Month' that he spent a year working on an animated show based on the survival horror game Soma, only to see the project fall apart. This revelation left him "quite upset."

Soma, developed by Frictional Games, the creators of the Amnesia series, was released in 2015 and received widespread critical acclaim. Jacksepticeye, a fan of the game, streamed it extensively upon its release and has often cited it as one of his top video games of all time.

In his video, Jacksepticeye discussed the challenges he has faced with various creative projects that have either been canceled or failed to progress. He specifically mentioned the Soma animated show, which he was excited about due to his deep appreciation for the game's story. He had been in discussions with the developers for a year and was ready to move into full production when the project suddenly collapsed.

Jacksepticeye expressed his frustration over the project's abrupt end, stating that an unnamed party decided to take the project in a "different direction." He chose not to delve into the specifics, citing his upset over the situation. This cancellation disrupted his plans for 2025, leaving him uncertain about his priorities and future projects.

Following the release of Soma, Frictional Games continued their success with two more entries in the Amnesia series: Amnesia: Rebirth in 2020 and Amnesia: The Bunker in 2023. In July 2023, Thomas Grip, the creative director at Frictional, mentioned the company's intention to shift focus away from horror games to explore other emotional qualities in their games, aiming to provide players with immersive experiences beyond just horror.
