"Oblivion Remastered Keeps Iconic Line Flub"

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered breathes new life into one of Bethesda's most iconic titles with stunning visual upgrades, refined gameplay mechanics, and more. Yet, the team at Virtuos has made a conscious effort to preserve the charm of the original game, including one of its most memorable lines.

Veteran fans of The Elder Scrolls series are well acquainted with Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf located in the Temple of the One in the Imperial City. When Oblivion first launched on PC and Xbox 360 nearly two decades ago, it was evident that Tandilwe could benefit from her own speech lessons. One of her voice lines, a recording of actress Linda Kenyon's second attempt at a line, was mistakenly left in the game and has since become legendary among fans.

As players embarked on their journey through a refreshed Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to discover the extent of the remaster's fidelity. While countless aspects of the game have been revamped—from environments and character models to items—fans have been delighted to find that many of the original game's quirks, including Tandilwe’s amusing blooper, remain unchanged. This beloved mistake, preserved without subtitles, continues to bring joy to players just as it did almost 20 years ago.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon acknowledged the infamous Oblivion blooper that had gone viral, humorously stating, "It wasn't my fault!"

While the debate rages on among the thousands of players diving into Oblivion Remastered about whether the Bethesda re-release leans more towards a remake or a remaster, many are thrilled to see the game's original jankiness preserved. Both Bethesda and Virtuos were committed to maintaining these cherished imperfections, and the response from both new and veteran players has been overwhelmingly positive.
