R.E.P.O Console Release: What to Expect

*R.E.P.O.*, the chilling co-op horror game that hit the scene in February, has captured the hearts of over 200,000 PC gamers. But what about console players? Are they going to get a chance to experience the thrills of *R.E.P.O.*? Let's dive into what we know.

Is R.E.P.O. Going to Come to Consoles?

As of now, *R.E.P.O.* remains exclusively a PC game, and there's no indication from its developer, semiwork, that a console version is on the horizon. The team at semiwork is currently focused on perfecting the game's multiplayer experience, which has encountered some significant challenges.

One of the main hurdles they face is improving the game's multiplayer mechanics, crucial since *R.E.P.O.* is designed for multiplayer gameplay. However, they're grappling with a dilemma: how to combat hackers without alienating the modding community. As the developer explained to PCGamer, "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that." This complex issue needs resolution before any thoughts of a console port can even be entertained.

While other PC-exclusive titles like *Mouthwashing* have successfully transitioned to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, simplifying the porting process. Games like *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which share a similar theme of evading monsters, have also stayed PC-only. Last year, the developers of *Content Warning* hinted at a potential console release but cited technical difficulties. Since then, silence has prevailed on this front.

So, for console gamers eagerly awaiting *R.E.P.O.*, the current outlook is not promising. Semiwork has not shown any interest in a console release and is instead dedicating their efforts to enhancing the PC version's multiplayer experience.
