inZOI developers have confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from their game. Reports surfaced within the past day revealing that the Creative Studio mode demo contained the controversial anti-tamper software. Denuvo implementation has long been debated within gaming circles, with numerous reports suggesting negative performance impacts.
This digital rights management technology aims to prevent game piracy by restricting unauthorized copying and distribution of PC game files.
In a March 26 Steam blog post, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim responded to player concerns, stating that Friday's Early Access build will launch without DRM technology. "We originally implemented Denuvo to protect against illegal distribution, believing this would maintain fairness for legitimate purchasers. After reviewing community feedback, we recognized this approach didn't reflect player expectations," Kjun explained.

The director also apologized for failing to disclose Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode. While acknowledging DRM removal might increase piracy risks, Kjun emphasized this decision will enhance customization freedom: "We believe giving players unrestricted creative freedom from launch will foster innovation and lasting enjoyment."

The Denuvo inclusion initially confused players given inZOI's emphasis on modding capabilities, as DRM typically restricts player modifications.
Kjun reiterated their vision: "As stated during our Online Showcase, we're dedicated to making inZOI highly moddable. Our first official mod support launches in May, enabling Maya and Blender integration for custom content creation. This represents just our initial phase - we'll continually expand modding possibilities across the game."
He promised detailed modding information in future communications, stressing Krafton's commitment to player-first development through community feedback integration.
inZOI launches in Early Access on March 28, 2025 for PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions planned for full release. The complete version release date remains unannounced.
