Lost Soul Aside, the eagerly anticipated single-player action game for PC and PlayStation 5, has been delayed by three months. Originally slated for release on May 30, 2025, developer Ultizero Games has now set the new launch date for August 29, 2025. This decision comes after nearly a decade of development, with the team citing the need for additional polish to meet their high standards.
"We are truly grateful for the positive response we've received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside," Ultizero Games stated. "We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience. To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Soul Aside will now release on August 29, 2025. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch."
Originally conceived as a passion project by solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved significantly. Now under the banner of Sony's China Hero Project, the game is being developed by Bing's studio, Ultizero Games, based in Shanghai. Bing, who has become the founder and CEO of the studio, has guided the project from its humble beginnings to a major title, highlighted by a trailer reveal at Sony's State of Play broadcast.
IGN recently had the chance to sit down with Yang Bing to discuss the journey to launch. The game has garnered significant attention, with many praising its blend of Final Fantasy-inspired characters and Devil May Cry-style combat. The excitement around Lost Soul Aside began building when Bing's initial reveal video went viral back in 2016.
In Lost Soul Aside, players control the protagonist Kesar, who wields a versatile shape-shifting weapon that allows for different playstyles. Kesar is accompanied by a dragon-like companion named Arena, who can summon abilities to aid in battles. The game draws inspiration from its predecessors, focusing on aerial dodging, precise timing, combos, and countering, all set against the backdrop of epic boss fights. The narrative spans multiple dimensions, blending sci-fi elements with contemporary aesthetics. While the trailers offer glimpses of the game's world, Yang Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery."
