Pity System in RAID Shadow Legends: Does It Boost Your Chances?

RAID: Shadow Legends is well-known for its RNG-based (random number generator) summoning system, which can be both thrilling and frustrating, particularly when players experience long dry spells without pulling a Legendary champion. To mitigate this, Plarium introduced a feature known as the "Pity System." But how does this system function, is it effective, and does it truly benefit free-to-play (F2P) and low-spender players? Let's delve into the details.

What Is the Pity System in RAID: Shadow Legends?

The Pity System is a subtle mechanism that boosts your chances of summoning higher rarity champions—Epic and Legendary—as your streak of unsuccessful pulls lengthens. Essentially, if you're experiencing a prolonged run of bad luck, the game incrementally increases your odds until you secure a valuable pull. This system aims to prevent extended "dry streaks" where players summon numerous shards without obtaining a desirable champion. While Plarium doesn't openly promote this mechanic within the game, its existence has been verified by dataminers, developers, and the collective experiences of the player base.

Sacred Shards

Base Legendary chance: 6% per pull.
Mercy kicks in: After 12 pulls without a Legendary.
After your 12th Sacred pull without a Legendary, each additional pull increases your Legendary odds by 2%.

So, the progression works like this:

  • 13th pull = 8% chance
  • 14th pull = 10% chance
  • 15th pull = 12% chance

Is the Pity System Helpful for the Average Player?

The answer isn't straightforward. While the Pity System can occasionally provide relief, many players have noted that it often activates too late to be regularly beneficial, as they might have already pulled a Legendary before reaching the mercy point. Therefore, the question becomes: how can it be improved? Having a Pity System is undeniably beneficial, particularly in a gacha game like RAID: Shadow Legends.

For F2P players, the constant disappointment of not summoning a Legendary after extensive grinding and farming for shards can be disheartening. Thus, the system is essential, but it could be enhanced. For instance, developers could reduce the pity threshold from 200 to 150 or 170 pulls. This adjustment would enable players to save more shards on a regular basis and make the system feel more like a genuine "pity."

Enhance your RAID: Shadow Legends experience by playing on a larger screen using your PC or laptop with a keyboard and mouse through BlueStacks, for an optimized and more enjoyable gameplay experience.
